The scorching summer is approaching, but for players who truly desire to break through, this is not a time to rest — it’s the beginning of transformation. The highly anticipated Asia Elite Basketball Camp is set to take place from July to August this year, offering a comprehensive and intensive preseason training system tailored for players across Asia. The camp will tour Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, attracting basketball players and enthusiasts from across the region, and is recognized as one of the most professionally-run summer basketball training events in Asia.
NBA-Level Coaching Staff: Practical Experience Meets World-Class Expertise
The highlight of this year’s camp is the elite coaching team of three internationally renowned experts with NBA and global professional experience. These coaches will personally design and lead every session, helping participants push their limits and develop a true professional mindset and skillset.
Gary Boyson is a top-tier international basketball scout, coach, and player development specialist. With over 20 years of experience in the NBA and around the world, he has trained players from various professional leagues globally. Known for talent discovery, skill development, and professional training, Boyson has also coached national teams and pro clubs in multiple countries — making him one of the rare few with a complete background in coaching, scouting, and international player development.
Shawn Faust is one of the world’s most elite basketball trainers, having played professionally in several countries. He has trained players at every level — from youth to pros, European leagues, and the NBA. He works not only with individual players but also with NBA teams and sports agencies for draft preparation and player development. Faust has guided many players through the NBA draft process, including Walter Clayton Jr., the MOP of the 2024 NCAA March Madness and guard for the University of Florida, whom he has trained long-term.
Steven Garcia, a former performance coach for the Orlando Magic, brings a unique perspective on player development. He has worked with numerous NBA stars, including Kemba Walker (4x NBA All-Star), Quinn Cook (2x NBA Champion), JJ Barea (NBA Champion), Mickael Pietrus (2x French League Champion/French National Team), Edgar Sosa (EuroCup Champion/Italian League Champion), and Jose Alvarado (NBA Rising Stars MVP). Most recently, he worked with Golden State Warriors rookie Quinten Post, helping him progress from an undrafted two-way contract to a full roster spot and a key part of the team’s rotation.
Each coach brings their unique experience and training philosophy, offering players a rich and diversified approach to elite-level development — the same methods top pros are using right now.
A Complete Training System: More Than Progress — It’s Transformation
The Asia Elite Basketball Camp will be conducted in grouped sessions, ensuring that every participant—whether a beginner, intermediate player, or advanced elite athlete—receives the most suitable and personalized training experience. The camp is built around six core training pillars:
- Skill Development & Enhancement: Deep dives into ball-handling, footwork, shooting, finishing, and defense. Each skill is broken down into its fundamental elements, with precise feedback on timing, movement mechanics, and decision-making. The focus is on upgrading—not repeating—skills.
- Game Efficiency & Decision-Making: Emphasis on practical in-game applications and speed of execution. Drills include constraints-based training to simulate real-game pressure, teaching players to make quick, effective decisions under duress and maximize impact with minimal motion.
- Tactical Situational Training: Real-game simulations such as fast-break transition, pick-and-roll reads, defensive rotations, and late-game execution help players improve their basketball IQ, adaptability, and tactical leadership on the court.
- Leadership & Teamwork Development: In addition to individual skills, the camp nurtures players’ communication, accountability, and team dynamics. Through group challenges and team-based objectives, players grow into leaders and learn to influence positively.
- New Skill Acquisition: Incorporating the latest concepts from global coaching, including creative offensive moves, positionless skills training, and strategic combination play, to help players expand beyond their comfort zones.
- Mental Toughness Training: The camp strengthens not only the body but also the mind. Through pressure-based drills, error recovery exercises, and in-game stress simulations, players learn to regulate emotions, refocus quickly, and maintain composure — becoming reliable performers under pressure.
